Upping the mileage

I upped my mileage yesterday. I ran 8.81 miles and it felt pretty good! I have a 7K that I will be running on St. Patty's day and my average run has been just under 4 miles since I started running again. Saturday I went out with my friend and we ran 5 miles and it felt really good. My back and foot held up really well, so yesterday I wanted to see where I stood with time. I got to the lake about an hour before my friend so I could do a 7K at my pace (and not my friend's) to see where I stood on time. The last 7K I raced I did it 49:02. I knew I wasn't there yet but I didn't know how far off I was. It was a very pretty day. In the 50's yesterday and the sun was shining. Just a little bit of wind. I ran the 7K in 52:57, so I've lost about 4 minutes. I have a month to try to gain that back and then some. I'd love to PR. So I have a goal. My friend showed up about 10 minutes after I got back to my car and off we went for a 4 mile run at her pace. We would have ran further but my foot started bothering me and I was limping quite a bit. Plus she has her own set of feet problems and and just had her feet taped and she didn't want to push it too much her first time out with the taping. After hearing her rave about how good her feet felt. I want my foot taped! Does anyone know anything about KT tape? Yay, Nay? I might try it, just to see if it helps with the plantar fascitis. I do have a half to run in less than 2 months and I am thinking I need all the help I can get.

Today is Valentine's Day. It's my first one in a very long time where someone other than my kid is my Valentine. We aren't making a big deal of it really. No dinner reservation and no big rock being put on my finger. My daughter bought me flowers and a card. I will of course be returning the favor for her... except instead of flowers I am getting her a video game she mentioned she wanted. John already gave me his presents as well. Shoe inserts that make my feet feel like I'm walking on clouds and workout gear... because he is awesome and actually knows the way to my heart is providing me with useful things rather than chocolate that I would devour and gain 10 lbs then have a sad because I did that. My gift to him... a tune up for his road bike and these shoes because he wants them and I know the way to his heart is always a pair of shoes. We aren't a mushy pair but we love each other and we know how to please each other make each other smile.

Anyone advice on how to heal a heel without stopping the runs?

What are you getting your Valentine this year?

Running week

I have run 3 days this week. Not very far and not very fast, but I have made the effort to get out there and move. Unfortunately after my run yesterday my left leg was twice the size of my right one. I went home and did the whole RICE thing. It helped while I was doing it but woke up this morning to the same old dance. Stupid foot. I am 10 weeks away from my first half of the year. I hope I can get all this pain under control soon because I am so very tired of being injured.

Life otherwise is going well. I go to work, work out, go home and cook dinner, read a little and go to bed. Life is pretty boring these days, but it's been so very nice to have a drama free life that I appreciate the peace and quiet I have attained in my life. My John is almost done with his wrestling coach duties. Honestly I can't wait for the season to be over. I miss not having him as my gym and running partner. since November, when wrestling started, I typically only see him for an hour before bed. And with weekend wrestling meets it's even harder to spend quality time with him. You would think I would spend more time with friends, but it seems that my girls are only available during the time that I have to spend with John. So basically all my relationships suffer during wrestling season. :) 2 more weeks and then it's over. I can not wait!

Injured again

On Friday, my back was kind of bothering me. Not too bad just enough for me to remind me to step carefully. I of course ignored it. I went to the gym and worked out. Saturday, was gorgeous outside. It was high 50's, sunny, just perfect running weather. So I met my friend down at the lake for a scheduled run. Place was jammed with runners, bikers, and walkers with dogs. My back hurt, but I still did not listen. We ran 2 miles and walked 1.7 to finish the loop. By the time I got to me car, my back was screaming at me. Sigh, did I listen to it at all? Negative, because I woke up on Sunday got about of bed, fell down because I could not put any weight on my lower extremities, cried for about 15 minutes and went to the gym and worked out again. Now, I know none of this was wise, in fact it was downright dumb, but I will say while I was working out I had very little pain, and that is why I went ahead and worked out anyway. However, by Sunday night I got a little smart. I went and bought a heating pad and used it. I ended up taking Monday as a rest day, most likely because I could not get up from the couch without a lot of tears, and today woke up with manageable pain. Because I feel so much better than I did yesterday, I made a choice to take one more rest day and cancelled my scheduled run this afternoon.

I'm so so tired of being injured. My foot is finally on the mend, my shoulder is finally getting better, so why in the world did my back decide to pain me now? I have 2 half marathons I am training for. I can't afford all these injuries! I have fitness and weight loss goals I want to meet. I need a healthy body in order to do this. I don't have a scheduled run again until Saturday. I am hoping several rest days in a row will fix me, so I can get back on track.

And so it begins

Super exciting, I ran for the first time in 7 weeks! It was freezing, like 19 degrees freezing. And I only got 2 miles in, I did mention it was freezing right? Plus, I wanted to make sure I could even run. Side note, did have some pain in foot as well as back, so kind of sucked. I was super slow too, it took 31 minutes to do 2 miles. Yeah, I was almost to 10 minute miles when I got injured, so have a lot of work to do to get back to where I was. BUT I ran! Also saw some deer too, and after the run a duck tried to attack us. He was demanding food we did not have. lol. Didn't get a picture of the duck, but I did get one of the deer.

I cooked dinner last night as well. i haven't been doing a whole lot of that lately, which probably explains the tight pants. i made stuffed green peppers, with ground turkey. healthy and filling. yum! Have a great day!

And the Countdown begins

I am currently in Georgia, have been enjoying slightly warmer weather, but only at night as I have been going in to work when it's dark and getting back to the hotel after the sun has already set. I'm going home in a couple of hours. I hope there is not traffic that will make me late to the airport, no plain delays and no bad weather at home because I am ready to be with my family again.

The countdown for running begins. Well my attempt to run again anyway. Tuesday is the day and I can't wait, but I'm worried that my foot won't hold up because it is a little sooner than I was told I could run.

Quick update

Since I haven't been running, I have not been posting. I'm still on a running sabbatical, the good news is my heal is much better. It's far from perfect, I still experience pain almost daily but it's like a 3 rather than 7.5 I used to have. The bad news is that I have bicep tendinitis in both shoulders so lifting, changing clothes, washing hair is extremely painful. Sigh... I'm a hot injured mess, but it will get better
